Bernadette Ocampo-Wall is the Founder and Director of justcallme-b. She is the B in justcallme-b!
'Everything starts with a story... Mine started when a lady introduced herself to me and I told her that, "my name is Bernadette." However, throughout our conversation she proceeded to call me Bridget, and persisted until I gently corrected her: "Actually, my name is Bernadette."
Her response?
She called me Bridget, again. "Bernadette, is too hard to say", she said. Of course, I wanted her to call me by the correct name, but I also wanted to make things clear for her, so I simply said: "just call me B, then".
The phrase stuck and the one I always use when I meet someone for the first time:
"Hi, my name is Bernadette but just call me B".
It was in this instance I discovered the power in Steve Jobs' statement:
"Simplicity is the ultimate sophistication."
It takes a lot of hard work to make something simple, to truly understand the underlying challenges a person, product or project in order to be able to get rid of the parts that are not essential and come up with solutions.
Focus and simplicity, once you get there, you can move mountains!'
B was born in Angeles City, Philippines and bred in London, England.
From the age of 7, and thanks to her Primary School teacher, Miss Morrison, she realised her love for reading and writing. It was during her very first spelling and reading assessment that Miss Morrison found that after assessing the whole class, B ranked top and encouraged her to do more reading, more writing and expand on her storytelling.
It was from then on that B learnt the most significant act is not something that you do but someone you will raise. This was B's experience with her teacher who instilled in her a desire to read and write more.
This seed of investment grew, and after some time, she began to develop her literary skills and started to write articles, and get requests with others to help with their writing and content needs.
B discovered that seemingly small attention to detail can have significant results for her clients, which set up her journey of crafting her skill of immersing herself in the world of copy, editing, proofreading and literary consulting.
B has worked with world renowned influencers, CEO's, start-ups, and more recently multi-million pound companies. She thrives in the midst of high-pressured, intensely focused environments with incredibly high standards of execution.
When B is not working, she can be found looking after her two beautiful children, Gracie-Hope and Joshua-Jacob, spending time with her husband, Rob, learning Spanish, and investing time developing her skill-set.
